In winter you must to have Crampon and Ice axe for climbing Damavand.

At the summer some rout of Damavand Mountain need to technical equipment and some routes don't need any technical equipment;

South Face (usual route): Usually you don’t need Crampon and Ice axe.

Northeast Face (Famous route after South Face): In some section of this rote (from 5300 to 5600 m) always there is snow and ice, so it's better to have an Ice axe for climbing Damavand from Northeast Face.
